Designer + Photgrapher

My first job after high school was a dental apprenticeship in the Harz Mountains of Germany where I grew up. I had a desire to create for as long as I can remember, but crafting dentures and crowns was not exactly what I had in mind. So I packed up and moved to the western coast of Ireland where I managed a tiny hostel and a herd of goats and wondered what lay on the other side of the Atlantic. Eventually, I found myself in California attending Santa Monica College of Design, Art and Architecture and pursuing my lifelong dream of studying art and design. The interdisciplinary nature of the curriculum became the foundation for my professional life as a graphic designer and photographer.

After relocating to Chicago I graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a BFA in Photography and Visual Communications.

Currently I lead an interdisciplinary design team as Design Director at Rand McNally, developing projects ranging from corporate identity and collateral to product development and marketing.

And whenever possible I grab my camera and hit the open road either by bicycle or car and follow my passion for photography.
